RBL Talk Extra Episode 19 - 28.2.2025

In this episode Justin informs the listeners of the latest news including that local RB fans where heard chanting the name of local manager Marco Rose at the end of the cup final as if the cup win from a controversial penalty win was more than convincing enough even after the latest shortcomings. We preview the next game in the Bundesliga against Mainz which starts the next run of tough upcoming fixtures for RB Leipzig which include games against SC Freiburg, Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach in the month of March which could very well define where we end up finishing in a European competition spot for next season. We look at two players for player watch in the next game we play along with predictions, and rounding out the show the RBL talk segment.

In the RBL talk segment there are listener questions from Balham on X, and rl9lewyfan on Instagram.

Justin:

Hello everyone and welcome to RBL Talk.

2

:

On today's show we have some club news.

3

:

We recap the one nil Quarterfinal win

against VFL Wolfsburg in the DFB Pcal, our

4

:

preview match, day 24 in the Bunga Against

Mines, and also the RBL talk segment

5

:

with your listener input on the show.

6

:

Starting with Club News in this

episode and rb, Leipzig and Wolfsburg

7

:

wrecked to controversial penalty.

8

:

RB Labs secured their place in the

DFP semifinal with a one nil win

9

:

against Wolfsburg on Wednesday night.

10

:

But the result came with controversy.

11

:

Benjamin Sesco shot from close range

into the path of Cle and Fisher

12

:

who couldn't react quick enough

to move his arm out of the way.

13

:

Match official Tobias or reel pointed

to the spot, and even after VAR Pascal

14

:

Muller intervened reel wasn't sent

to the screen to review the decision.

15

:

Speaking after the game, RB Leipzig's,

right, or Baku discussed the decision

16

:

saying that Leipzig had a controversial

penalty that went in favor for us.

17

:

Le Zg Defender David Round even went

as far as apologizing, adding, or

18

:

went up to a few wolfsburg plays

during the game and said, sorry.

19

:

Marco Rosa also addressed the situation.

20

:

If I were a Wolfsberg player,

I would be upset, said I'll

21

:

be a alive six head coach.

22

:

Wolfsburg's.

23

:

Ralph Hassan Tel also had

his take on the decision.

24

:

I don't think he could see

clearly from his position.

25

:

The process doesn't make sense to me.

26

:

I don't understand why he doesn't

look at it again later that evening.

27

:

Ryle.

28

:

Commented on the reasoning behind

his decision, saying that he

29

:

had a clear view before adding

about his dialogue with the VAR.

30

:

The scene was checked.

31

:

We exchanged views.

32

:

He could not refute the parameters

mentioned with the images.

33

:

That's how I perceived it on field,

which is why I decided that way.

34

:

We will have more about the

penalty later on in the show.

35

:

Marco Rosa believed after RB

Lab six and German Cup win.

36

:

Marco Rosa is under pressure at RB Lab

Zg, but the head coach is a very happy man

37

:

after his side secured a place in the DFP

Park Cow semifinal after beating fellow

38

:

Bunger Wolfsberg on Wednesday night.

39

:

Thanks to Benjamin SESCO's penalty

after the controversial decision.

40

:

It is LE six fifth DFP Pau semi-final

appearance in seven years and after the

41

:

game, supporters voiced their support

for Marco Rosa chanting his name.

42

:

This comes after the German position

at the Saxony Club is under scrutiny

43

:

with many suggesting that this is a

decisive week in the club's plans, but

44

:

a place in the semi-final will certainly

ease some of the pressure on Rosa.

45

:

Whose Leipzig side sit sixth in the

Bunser table behind f Fryberg and mines

46

:

speaking after the game, rose

said, I'm happy about it on the

47

:

Leipzig fans support for Rose.

48

:

Very happy.

49

:

We have kept the chance of something big.

50

:

David Ram also echoed his support for

Rosa adding we are playing for our coach.

51

:

This victory is very important for

him, for us, and for the atmosphere.

52

:

Supporting director Marcel Shafer, further

added the victory, gives us a boost.

53

:

I hope our chess will grow a little.

54

:

Our self-confidence will grow a little.

55

:

But their one year win over Wolfsburg

didn't come without controversy.

56

:

Benjamin SESCO's penalty was awarded

after the Slovenian shot hit the arm

57

:

of Killian Fisher from close range.

58

:

And despite the VAR intervening,

Matt's official Tobi didn't go to

59

:

the monitor to review the situation.

60

:

However, it will clearly ease some

of the pressure on Rosa who had just

61

:

two wins in nine games across all

competitions before last night's win.

62

:

But Leipzig must now take their

performance into Saturday's,

63

:

game against Mines who sit level

points with the Saxony Club,

64

:

and now to preview that game

with the good, the bad, and the

65

:

ugly, starting with the good.

66

:

Nine shots inside the box, which was

more than the shots from outside.

67

:

With seven attempts, we recovered

the ball well with 53 recoveries.

68

:

We converted the penalty.

69

:

We also transitioned the ball

quite well throughout this game.

70

:

The bad, what we did

wrong, booked three times.

71

:

One was an argument from Louis app

Pender, and the third minute of added

72

:

time we gave away too many free kicks.

73

:

15 in total, eight of 16 shots off target.

74

:

That's 50% in a cup final.

75

:

That's poor form.

76

:

And then the ugly, what we did

really wrong, for me, it was just

77

:

the one thing and that was the

missed four big chances, and it had

78

:

to be given a soft penalty to win.

79

:

Three things we learned.

80

:

V Wolfsberg number one, local RB fans

are wearing rose colored glasses.

81

:

Pardon the pun.

82

:

Supporters have voiced their

support for Marco Rosa chanting

83

:

his name, which is okay.

84

:

I'm not against that, but to think

recent results are acceptable,

85

:

having questionable calls

decide that if we win or not.

86

:

Maybe fans need to rethink

their stance on the local man.

87

:

Number two, successor

to Peter Gache is ready.

88

:

Marty and Vanderbilt had played

barely any games and didn't look

89

:

like he missed a single beat.

90

:

Number three, Wolfsburg were unlucky and

should have not conceded that penalty.

91

:

VAR does more harm than good and it seems

RBL had extra help from the officials

92

:

and the otherwise lackluster performance.

93

:

Before we go into the detailed summary

and recap, we will overview the two player

94

:

watch players and the player watch plays

for both sides was the two center backs.

95

:

Uh, BL Captain Willie Orban and

Wolfsburg in Greek International

96

:

Center back Constantinos.

97

:

Willie Orban played the full 90

minutes, had 59, touches four

98

:

tackles, two interceptions, six

clearances, was dribbled past three

99

:

times, won five of nine grand duels

and won six of eight aerial duels.

100

:

Committed, one foul completed 39

or 45 passes and accuracy of 87%.

101

:

I would rate Orban out of 10.

102

:

A 7.4.

103

:

He could have been an eight,

but gets a lower mark due to

104

:

being dribbled past three times.

105

:

Constantinos Raki played the full

90 minutes, had 78, touches two

106

:

tackles, two interceptions, six

clearances was drill past zero times

107

:

one three of five grand duals and one

two of two aerial duals committed.

108

:

Two fouls completed.

109

:

53 of 62 passes an accuracy of 85%.

110

:

I would rate constantinos a 7.0

111

:

out of 10 as he lost possession 11 times.

112

:

RB Leig went one step closer to

a third DFP PAU title In four

113

:

seasons after defeating, Wolfsburg

won nil in their quarterfinal.

114

:

Thanks to Benjamin SESCO's

second half penalty.

115

:

Neither of these familiar DFP pfos who

have now faced each other six times

116

:

in the last 11 seasons, we're happy to

sit back in the early stages leading

117

:

to a raft of chances at either end.

118

:

Louis app Pender Ended a lengthy gold

drought at the weekend, but couldn't

119

:

add to that as he poked wide of the

near post with only four minutes.

120

:

Played before.

121

:

Wolfsburg's Tiago Thomas Thundered

into the side netting having been

122

:

sent through by Patrick Wimmer.

123

:

A few wild long range efforts from Leipzig

then broke up the tempo, but the visitors

124

:

were back at it by the half hour mark

to call Martine Vanderbilt into a pair

125

:

of simple saves that looked to be it

for the first half action, but there was

126

:

a flurry of chances and stoppage time,

including wis near post effort, which

127

:

was saved well by Martine Vanderbilt.

128

:

The opening stage of the second

half unfolds similarity to the

129

:

first with the higher volume

of chances, but still no goals.

130

:

Muhammad Amor score of Abra Wolfsburg

Comprehensive five one win here in

131

:

November came the closest of anyone

yet looping his header against the

132

:

bar at the back post Van Voy was soon

busy again to tip over Andreas SCOs.

133

:

Olson's thunderous effort, but the

insuring Ziga pressure resulted

134

:

in the opener for the Red Bulls.

135

:

It came from the spot.

136

:

After SESCO's cross bounced up onto

the arm of Killian Fisher, and the

137

:

Slovenia stepped up himself to bury

it into the bottom left from 12 yards.

138

:

That was the first goal.

139

:

Wolfsburg had conceded in the

pocket hour this term, but a second.

140

:

It nearly came soon after, through

chances for App Penda and Amadou.

141

:

Hi.

142

:

Live Z's apparent refusal to

defend their lead resulted in

143

:

an abundance of chances late on.

144

:

But Kevin and Barons was unable to

convert from the wolves clearest

145

:

opening as they were eliminated.

146

:

Although they have shown their metal

in defending ones Legg position.

147

:

In each of their last three rounds,

Loeb will still hope to draw third tier

148

:

Armenia biofield, who are already in

the semifinals, thanks to a remarkable

149

:

run, including victories over Union

Berlin, f Fryberg, and Wea Breman.

150

:

The best plays for RBL were Martine

Vanderbilt, David Ram, Arthur Vermin.

151

:

Benjamin Sesco were the OR band.

152

:

And Kevin Campbell.

153

:

Best players for Wolfsburg

were Patrick Wimmer.

154

:

Deni Favaro.

155

:

Constantinos Cus and Mattias Sandberg.

156

:

Before we preview the mines game, I have

a quick suspension and injury list update.

157

:

Christopher Baumgartner and Yusef

Parson both have slight injuries

158

:

and are questionable for the

upcoming game against mines.

159

:

The injuries are nothing serious, but

they may not play any part against mines.

160

:

Further to that as Drago, Xavier

Schlager, Benjamin Hendricks and

161

:

Antonio Noosa are all still out

with their previous injuries.

162

:

All this can be found on the rbl talk.com

163

:

website and across social media.

164

:

And now to preview the minds Game.

165

:

Minds are one of the informed teams

in the competition who are third best

166

:

sight in the competition in their

last five matches, having just lost

167

:

one and drawn one and winning the

other three with the winds over Saint

168

:

Powell, Lee Heim, and VFB stood guard.

169

:

RBL on the other hand, have not

lost any of their last five games.

170

:

However, we have dropped many

points only winning one game against

171

:

Saint Powell and dropping points

against Osberg Heim and Union.

172

:

Berlin

173

:

Mines as Form might assist them in

running over the top of Di Rotten Bullen.

174

:

Even having the home advantage, as mines

have shown, they are more than capable

175

:

of finishing in a European cup place.

176

:

History is on the side of RBL as

mines have only ever beaten them

177

:

once at home in the Bunga, which

nd of April,:

178

:

A free flowing game with goals as

expected, but what will the end result

179

:

be with three players missing for

the visitors as Dominic Kor will be

180

:

suspended and doubts over injured

players, Phillip and Moi and Stefan Bell.

181

:

Some interesting match facts leading

to this game are RBO have scored

182

:

five goals in their last five

matches and mines have scored six

183

:

goals in their last five matches.

184

:

Player watch for both sides

will be for RBL David Realm.

185

:

Rammy has been below his best since

returning to the side from injury,

186

:

but has shown promising signs an

essential part in our buildup play

187

:

and everything good on the pitch.

188

:

Rammy will look to exploit the left flank

and set up a magnitude of chances against

189

:

one of the bundes leaguer's best teams.

190

:

And for mines, it's gonna

be goalkeeper Robin.

191

:

Zenner.

192

:

Robin has been on a hot streak in

form of late with the man of the Match

193

:

performance on February against Heim.

194

:

He has also been one of the best

players for mines in February

195

:

with big performances against

Saint Pley, Bremen, and Stuttgart.

196

:

What I would like to see in this

match with my lineup, van Devor

197

:

deserves to start a getting goal.

198

:

I felt he was a shining

light in an otherwise poor

199

:

performance in the DFBB hour.

200

:

The formation of the 3 4 1 2 seems

to be preferred for Marco Rosa.

201

:

So just a few squad rotations from the

last fixture will almost line up the same.

202

:

Back three of Behe all band and

Klosterman rotating Keytruda midfield.

203

:

Four of round on the left.

204

:

Hy replacing vermin.

205

:

Saw replacing camp and Baku being rotated

for Costa and Kovich on the right.

206

:

Chubby starts in number 10, role with the

strike do of app Penda and Cisco up front.

207

:

At some stage, can we see Tji Gomez

actually get his long awaited debut?

208

:

I personally thought that he

had a big chance in the DFB Pau

209

:

for predictions.

210

:

I'm hoping that I'm wrong in this, but

I'm going to go with a two one loss.

211

:

Something has to change drastically

with how we are traveling at the moment.

212

:

And I don't see a, a

better result than a draw.

213

:

I think recent poor form and

things going our way is being

214

:

kind to us and we are worse off

than what the table is suggesting.

215

:

How long can this good fortune run for?

216

:

This remains to be seen.

217

:

And now it's time for the

listener questions and the show's

218

:

at Marquee RBL talk segment.

219

:

Remember, you can be a part of the

show too with the RBL talk segment.

220

:

You can come on the

show as a special guest.

221

:

The way you do this is by interacting

with us on Spotify social media, such

222

:

as X, or email in at show@rbltalk.com.

223

:

More information in detail on

how to get involved with the

224

:

show for free in the show notes.

225

:

First submission today is from

X from Baum via direct message.

226

:

The username is Baum, and I believe

it's three or four under scrolls,

227

:

it says, FYI.

228

:

You couldn't let Coppo host watch along.

229

:

Let's not get carried away.

230

:

Was only a one goal

penalty kick goal win this.

231

:

Do you think they will get

Armenia away in cup draw?

232

:

Does biofield exist or do you make in DFP?

233

:

Pau, the lowest team always is

allowed to play at home 'cause to

234

:

slightly help them being underdogs.

235

:

Not so favorites.

236

:

This draw will take place

nd of March,:

237

:

The matches will take place on

nd of April,:

238

:

Should fans book their tickets for

final on the 24th of May or not yet?

239

:

I know I did a second ago.

240

:

Say fans shouldn't get too carried away.

241

:

Lo Zig gotten job done.

242

:

Many as myself would prefer

to see Stuttgart versus Bayer

243

:

play each other in other match.

244

:

Low key.

245

:

Are you going?

246

:

Berlin Final to sit with

Jorgen in the press box.

247

:

Have you booked your flight tickets live?

248

:

Zig must stay humble and simply try

to win semi-final match to reach this

249

:

final, depending on the time and your

own schedule with Time zone in Australia.

250

:

Are you doing a watch along

for Kill At Home in April?

251

:

You would expect a live Seguin in this.

252

:

Knowing them they are so inconsistent

is becoming a mini meme joke.

253

:

Face palm emoji.

254

:

A little bit to get through this,

so let's go straight through it.

255

:

So I'm just gonna take this time

now to apologize to every single

256

:

RBL talk listener that unfortunately

I got called into work at last

257

:

minute, so I had to not do the watch

along as much as I wanted to try.

258

:

I couldn't get out of it.

259

:

That being said, the next watch along.

260

:

Should be fine with work as I'll be

finishing at 2:00 AM my time and the

261

:

Bunes League game starts at 4:00 AM

in the top spiel against SC Fryberg

262

:

coming up in just a few short weeks.

263

:

However, it would've been nice to

let JN lop or someone else do the

264

:

watch long for me as someone who's

respectable and able to do it as well.

265

:

But unfortunately we're not at that stage.

266

:

So it's all me and only me, but

I wouldn't have it any other way,

267

:

especially interacting with many

of you listeners of the podcast,

268

:

as you said, let's not get carried away.

269

:

It was only one penalty kick

in it, but do you think that

270

:

we'll get how many a biofield.

271

:

Well that depends.

272

:

I sort of hope that we don't get

our biofield because I can't see us

273

:

actually being able to beat them.

274

:

I know they're a third division side,

but if you look at the track record of

275

:

how RB Loick have been playing, I think

we could quite possibly get embarrassed.

276

:

I would much rather have us play against

bio Levi them and lose, because then

277

:

there'd be nearly no excuses for.

278

:

Manager, Marco Rosa.

279

:

But if it doesn't matter who we play,

I feel that we're going to be losing.

280

:

So when you say further on that,

should fans book their tickets

281

:

for the final on the 24th of May?

282

:

I'd say not yet.

283

:

At least wait until our next game.

284

:

Otherwise, I'm not too sure what

it's like over there in Germany.

285

:

But you might not be able to

get a refund on your tickets and

286

:

it won't be money well spent.

287

:

I do think most RB fans are

probably looking for the

288

:

Stu Guard first buyer game.

289

:

That way we do get our nearby

field that gives us the best

290

:

chance getting into the final.

291

:

I just can't see it happening.

292

:

Oh, as much as I would love to go to

Berlin, and I know that you are joking

293

:

around when it comes to these jorgen

and clop comments, but no, I will

294

:

not be going to Berlin in the final

to sit in the press box with Jorgen

295

:

Klo, so I haven't booked any tickets.

296

:

That being said, if I would

ever go there, I would certainly

297

:

do some content for you all.

298

:

So if anyone from Red Ball

is listening, hit me up.

299

:

Lab Zg do need to stay humble and when it

comes to the next watch along besides the

300

:

game that previously mentioned against

Fryberg, I'm quite happy to do another

301

:

one against Holstein Kehl in April.

302

:

That being said, though, I

actually haven't gotten my

303

:

work roster for the next month.

304

:

I've got it all for.

305

:

This month in March, I don't have

anything in April as of this stage, and

306

:

I work through a couple of different

work sites, so I'm unsure exactly

307

:

what my rostered times will be.

308

:

If I work at one work site, I'll be most

likely able to do a watch long, as long

309

:

as it's going to be in the top spiel spot.

310

:

So that being said, we'll definitely

get two games in March coming up,

311

:

one to make up for the last game

and another just in case I can't do

312

:

a live stream watch along in April.

313

:

I do expect L Zg to win

against Holstein khl.

314

:

And, but as you said, it is a

mini meme joke that we are so

315

:

inconsistent I wouldn't put us

past losing against Holstein kill.

316

:

But anything can happen

in a month of football.

317

:

So ask me what I think when it comes

to the preview of that game coming up.

318

:

Next submission is from RL nine Louis

fan on Instagram, and they said We

319

:

played such a great game yesterday.

320

:

We dominated every aspect.

321

:

We only lacked finishing and focus

in front of Goal Sesco and app.

322

:

Penda wasted so many chances,

but still I think they had.

323

:

Both a good game and especially Sesco.

324

:

Our best players were Arthur Mirran.

325

:

This guy was being absolutely

insane in the last two matches.

326

:

He helps us a lot in winning the ball

back and starting counter attacks.

327

:

Two.

328

:

Martin Vanderbilt crazy saves.

329

:

He never disappoints

when given the chance.

330

:

And three Benjamin Sesco.

331

:

He played very good despite not con

concentrating in front of goal most of

332

:

the time, but still won us the match

by winning a penalty and scoring it.

333

:

Our worst player was nobody.

334

:

They all played good.

335

:

Only two more steps towards the cup.

336

:

Well, this is going to be one

of those interesting things.

337

:

Most of the time I seem to be.

338

:

On the same side as my listener

base, and we don't really

339

:

conflict on a lot of things.

340

:

That being said, coming up into

this game, I am going to have to say

341

:

that a worst player probably wasn't.

342

:

Nobody in a sense of, I can't

really pick one out, however.

343

:

When you said they all played

good, I'd have to kindly disagree.

344

:

I don't actually think

that we all played good.

345

:

I think besides the aforementioned

players that I said earlier, who was

346

:

the best players for RBO in that game?

347

:

I think the real only two standouts

from which you also said Arthur

348

:

Vermin and Martine Vanderbilt.

349

:

I think Martine Vandervoort needs

to actually start playing in goal.

350

:

As he's not only going to be the

future of the club in the number one

351

:

position between the six, he's also

shown that without any game time at

352

:

all, basically for over at least a month

of football, he can still play that.

353

:

Nothing ever changed.

354

:

Nothing happened.

355

:

Arthur, the mirror has started to develop

quite nicely in the past couple of weeks,

356

:

and as you said, he's winning a lot of the

ball back and starting counter attacks.

357

:

I think some of Arthur Vermeer's

distribution is sometimes left lacking,

358

:

but we also have to remember he's such

a young player and not every player

359

:

is perfect, just like I'm not perfect.

360

:

We're all not perfect.

361

:

So there's always things to improve

on, but Arthur Vermin has the pedigree

362

:

of being able to play in the spot like

Kevin Campbell, and he can play as a

363

:

deep lying midfield, or a number six, or

a number eight, which is a box to box.

364

:

This is something that Kevin

Campbell tried to achieve in the

365

:

DFB Pakar Cup final, but Kevin

Campbell was playing quite poorly.

366

:

He got dispossessed quite

a few times, and he just.

367

:

Was playing an off game,

which is understandable.

368

:

He is starting to get into this

twilight of his career, and he's

369

:

been a good player for us for many,

many years, and not everybody can

370

:

have a great game every single time.

371

:

I do think that because we miss so many

chances that we really need to invest in

372

:

getting better plays in certain positions.

373

:

Now, when I say better players, I don't

mean better players to replace the strike

374

:

doer of Benjamin Sesco and Louis Pender.

375

:

I still think that is the best

key forwards that we have.

376

:

However, going into future, we need some

good players to come in and replace them.

377

:

At the moment, we essentially have

nobody, even when Yusef Parson is

378

:

fit, we're still not going to get the

goal output that he wants used to do.

379

:

And that's no knock on

our club record holder.

380

:

He's such a great player and

he's still gonna be able to

381

:

win new games off his own boot.

382

:

He's just not going to give you

a brace as regular as he used to

383

:

or score as much as he used to.

384

:

Investment really is needed in

our club squad as we need to have

385

:

at least 30 players in our squad.

386

:

The way I would like it is to have a

reserves team almost as a backup team,

387

:

so when we have big games, we can

rotate these through, for instance.

388

:

Resting Louis App Pender and Benjamin

Sesco wouldn't be such a bad idea.

389

:

However, at the moment we can't do that.

390

:

What I would like to do and what

is ideal, is to have two plays that

391

:

can come in and replace them both.

392

:

So if we were to play someone like

Holstein Kill, which we should be Witting,

393

:

or SG Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, those

two can come on the same thing for Chavy.

394

:

Rest Chavy as well.

395

:

As much as these three key plays

alone don't want to have to be

396

:

rested at some point, you can't turn

around and play every single game

397

:

and including your international

duty, your body will just give out.

398

:

You'll start playing poor.

399

:

You'll get over fatigued or

you could possibly get injured.

400

:

Think back to Xavier Schlager last

season, he played too many games,

401

:

shouldn't have played the game,

and then he did his ACL injury.

402

:

Things like this can be prevented if the

club decides to invest in the the squad.

403

:

How we invest in that is up to the

club, whether that's spending an extra

404

:

30 million Euro on about five or six

players or promoting from within.

405

:

That's not to mention we still

haven't seen Tedium Gomez yet.

406
